Last summer we were able to spend our summer vacation in Bavaria to include a visit to one of my favorite hidden gems in Europe, Wurzburg Germany. Here are five reasons I love visiting there.

Gavin, my older son, was born here.

When I was in the Army we were stationed near Wurzburg. Gavin was born in the military hospital in this city.

The hospital is no longer there, but this city has a special place in my heart because my older son was born here.

One of my favorite places to visit in Bavaria is Rothenburg.

It is the best-preserved medieval city in all of Germany.

Here are five reasons I love visiting Rothenburg, Germany.

This place is full of all kinds of things to see and experience.

Start in the town square which includes the huge town hall.

Walking around this town is like wandering in a museum. It is one of the best places to get lost and explore.

We were lucky enough to visit Bavaria Germany this summer.

We started our adventure in Munich.

Here are five reasons I love spending time in the capital city of Bavaria — a really fun place.

Munich has the best beer in the world. It is full of world-class breweries to include famous ones like the Hofbrauhaus.

If you visit be sure to swing by there. Sure it will be full of tourists, but it is a ton of fun.

The best beer city in the world is Munich. If you love beer as I do, then this is the…

Great insights. Thanks for sharing your perspective. Your point about micromanagement is spot-on. Nowadays it is easier than ever to do this with all the technology and tracking tools available to leaders.

Our Battalion Commander pointed at the map and explained his strategy. Everything was dependent on the element of surprise. We must attack before being detected. Otherwise, the battle would be lost. Guess what happened when we executed the strategy. The enemy detected our battalion before anyone was in position. Chaos ensued and we were wiped out. Luckily for us — it was a training exercise, not a real-world operation. Nonetheless, our commander was embarrassed and chastised by his senior leaders for creating a bad strategy. Our commander made a classic leadership mistake. He discounted the risk and assumed that everything…

It is summertime and that means family vacation. Great news — we were able to get over to Bavaria.

The main reason was to spend time with my son Riley. This trip also gave the kids a chance to experience one of the best parts of Germany.

Here are five reasons I love spending time in Bavaria Germany.

I lived in Bavaria for four years back in the 1990s while serving in the US Army. I was stationed in Kitzingen which is near Wurzburg.

My older son was born in Wurzburg.

I love Bavaria.

It is a great place…

Hopefully, you get a chance to take a summer vacation this year. A few years ago, Kim and I took the kids to London, Paris, and Brussels.

Here are five reasons I love visiting Brussels, Belgium.

Belgians make some of the best beer in the world. Thousands of them are available in Brussels.

If you like beer made by Monks, sours, lambics, or funky fruit beers then you will love Brussels. They make all of those and more.

If you want to try out a lot of different beers then head to Brussels and sample to your heart’s content.

It is summertime and that means vacations.

A few years ago Kim and I took our first European vacation together in The Netherlands, starting in its beautiful capital city, Amsterdam.

Today I am sharing five reasons I love visiting Amsterdam.

Yes — Venice and other European cities have canals. But, none of them are like Amsterdam.

Take a look at the city map. It is fan-shaped. The canals are designed in a very organized manner.

If you want to get a feel for the difference between Northern and Southern Europe just look at the difference between how Amsterdam is…

Bon jour! Last weekend the biggest bike race in the world finished on the streets of Paris. Grab your coffee and croissants.

Today I am sharing five reasons I love visiting the city of Paris France.

There is so much to see in Paris.

Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame Cathedral, Arc de Triomphe, Champs-Élysées, the Louvre, to list just a few examples of the places to see. I could keep going on and on.

You are not going to be bored in Paris. There is so much to see and do, and it is a very walkable city.

There was a big football game in London last weekend. England did not win — tough loss. I bet the pubs were packed before and afterward with crazy fans. Here are five reasons I love visiting the capital city of England.

I have visited London multiple times. There is a ton to see and do there.

Start with the royal sites like Buckingham Palace. Tour beautiful churches like St. Paul’s cathedral.

London is actually an ancient city and includes other old sites such as London Tower built by William the Conquerer over a century ago.

Be sure to see…
