The best three albums by my top fifty favorite rock bands, #29 — The Psychedelic Furs
I’m returning to my top 50 favorite rock bands. In this video series, I’m identifying the best three albums by each band. This blog is for band #29 — post-punk band The Psychedelic Furs.
Criteria for selecting the best three albums
First, the band must have more than three albums. The Furs have been around for decades and released way more than three records. Second, Greatest Hits albums may make the list. You will not see one today although I will mention this band has an excellent Greatest Hits album called All of This and Nothing. No live albums are allowed.
The third-best album by this band is Talk Talk Talk
This album, Talk Talk Talk, comes from what I consider to be this band’s Golden Years, the early 80s. I own this one on vinyl. It includes their most famous hit “Pretty in Pink”, the original version, not the watered-down movie soundtrack version. I will mention this band released several albums after the 1980s and most of them are worth a listen. More particularly their most recent release, Made of Rain, is actually a good album, although it did make the top three.
The second-best album by The Psychedelic Furs
The second-best album by the Psychedelic Furs is called Mirror Moves. Another record from their golden years includes what I consider their best song, “Ghost in You”, as well as “Heaven” and several other excellent tunes. I really enjoy this one.
The best album by The Psychedelic Furs
The best Psychedelic Furs album is called Forever Now. I own this one on vinyl. Tracks found on this record include “Love My Way”, “Sleep Comes Down”, “President Gas”, and “No Easy Street”. I always enjoy listening to this album. The band still had its edge and really peaked with this record. For anyone who is not familiar with this band, I recommend starting here.
There you have it — the three best Psychedelic Furs albums. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.
